Angelina Jolie Debuts Chest Tattoo During Milestone Night at Tony Awards With Daughter Vivienne Jolie-Pit-InfoExpress

It was an extra special night at the 2024 Tony Awards for Angelina Jolie

In addition to winning her first Tony for producing The Outsiders, the actress—who attended the ceremony with daughter Vivienne Jolie-Pitt—debuted a new tattoo on the June 16 red carpet. (See every star at the Tonys here.)

The 49-year-old's new ink, a bird tattoo, could be seen on her chest as she posed in her teal Atelier Versace dress and matching shawl.

It was also visible throughout the night, as The Outsiders won several awards during the Tonys telecast.

And the musical's win means Angelina is halfway to the illustrious EGOT—an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony winner—which is only held by 15 celebs so far.

Although the Eternals star didn't speak onstage while the ensemble accepted the Best Musical award, she reflected on the novel's impact while introducing the cast for their performance of "Tulsa '67/Grease Got a Hold."

"Susie Hinton wrote The Outsiders in high school," Angelina said. "A half-century later, it still speaks to us. Society changes, but the experience of being an outsider is universal. To any young person—any person, feeling on the outside, you are not wrong to see what is unfair. You are not wrong to wish to find your own path. As the cast raise their voices, I hope it inspires many of you watching to value yours."

And Angelina is eternally grateful to her 15-year-old daughter Vivienne for inspiring her to get involved in the 12 Tony-nominated Broadway musical.

"She appreciates all theater but she certainly knows what she feels close to and what she responds to," Angelina told Deadline in an interview published June 10. "She went to see The Outsiders at La Jolla about five times and was telling me about it, and I had read the book, and I'd seen the film years ago."

Angelina—who also shares Maddox, 22, Pax, 20, Zahara, 19, Shiloh, 18, and Vivienne's twin Knox, 15, with ex Brad Pitt—decided to get involved and shared that it gave her more insight into her daughter.

"So, it was a very different experience of understanding, of how this is having a significant effect on her as a young person right now, and she's communicating something to me, and that is the power of this material, which was in really good shape even by then," she continued. "And then I had the privilege of watching everyone work over this last year to make it into what it is, and Vivienne has been there the whole way."
